McGregor on fighting Pacquiao: 'There are no leg kicks in boxing!'

Former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor has his confidence intact following his latest setback.

The Irish mixed martial arts superstar fought and lost via second-round knockout to ex-UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 last Sunday.

McGregor’s downfall started with Poirier’s calf kicks-- a weapon that Manny Pacquiao would not be able to use should their prospective showdown come to fruition.

“There are no damn leg kicks in boxing, you know what I mean? I always did want to focus on my MMA career but I'm also open,” said McGregor.

“I'll just see what happens. I don't know what will happen. That Manny [Pacquiao] fight was happening. It was as good as done.”

Talks of a fight between the two erupted last year when both camps confirmed that they are in touch for a mega showdown.

Just recently, McGregor also revealed that negotiations with the Pacquiao camp is “intensifying” as they aim to put up the event this year.

And should the fight take place, McGregor is just relieved that he does not have to deal with kicks against Pacquiao.

“I just want to get in there and get back into a bounce, especially against that style of fighter, and not take those kicks. Not play with those kicks. It's just a [expletive] to take.”  -- BAP, GMA News
