Rafael Nadal is the proudest mentor as Alex Eala bags first pro title
Rafael Nadal is the proudest mentor after Alex Eala bagged her first professional title as tennis player.
On Instagram, Monday, the 20-time Grand Slam champion penned a short message for the Filipina teen, who pulled off a stunning 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 comeback against Spain's Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers to rule the W15 ITF Manacor Tournament.
"Congratulations @alex.eala for this important moment in your career. We are all very happy for you! Keep up the good work and attitude," Nadal said.
Eala attends the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain and got the opportunity to train under the King of Clay himself amid the pandemic.
The 15-year-old Globe Ambassador previously received commendation from the legendary Spaniard after making it to the semifinals of the 2020 French Open Juniors.
Last year, she also won the Australian Open juniors doubles title together with Indonesian partner Priska Madelyn Nugroho.
As of January 18, Eala is at no. 3 in the ITF Junior Ranking. She previously reached no. 2 after her semis run at Roland Garros.
