BREN bows down to Burmese Ghouls, crashes to lower bracket of MLBB World Championship
Coming off an impressive sweep of the group stages, BREN Esports failed to carry the momentum into the upper bracket as they fell short against Burmese Ghouls, 2-0, relegating them to the lower bracket of the MLBB M2 World Championship 2020.
This was in stark contrast to BREN's performance during the MPL Invitational 2020, where they completed a reverse sweep of the Burmese squad to secure a place in the tournament finals.
Opting for an aggressive early game line-up against BREN's late game draft centered around KarlTzy's Claude, the Myanmar representatives proved that their draft in Game 1 was superior as they pummeled BREN early on, already securing a 5k gold lead at the six-minute mark behind Dee (Yu Zhong) who already scored a 4-1-1 KDA.
BREN's KarlTzy tried to force the matter in the seven-minute mark as he successfully secured the turtle buff against the still out of position Burmese squad. But the response was quick as ACE (Yi Shun shin) scored a triple kill in the ensuing play to spearhead BG's 4-1 exchange.
Three minutes later, BG scored another 3-0 exchange in the mid-lane scuffle, finally securing their Game 1 win in 12 minutes.
The MPL Myanmar Champions then unleashed more surprises in Game 2, opting for a dual-support no tank draft to counter BREN's dual-core set-up. The draft once again proved effective as Ruby DD (Diggie) provided solid disruptions to BREN's rotations, not letting the Philippine representatives to get going.
A Blazing Duet harassment by ACE (Claude) inside BREN's base followed by a phenomenal aggression by Dee's (Yu Zhong) Black Dragon Form in the 11th minute resulted to a kill and an inhibitor turret push in the mid-lane that shrunk the Philippine team's map control tremendously.
Burmese Ghouls then secured the luminous lord in the 15th minute, followed by a 3-1 exchange in the mid-lane skirmish that finally shattered BREN's slim hope of a comeback.
BREN will go up against Todak on Saturday for a place in the lower bracket finals. —MGP, GMA News
