UFC lets go of Anderson Silva

Former middleweight world champion Anderson Silva has been released by the UFC.

MMA Fighting was the first to report the termination of Silva and later confirmed by UFC president Dana White on TMZ.

The man touted by many as the greatest of all time in mixed martial arts won just one bout in his last nine fights.

He last saw action inside the octagon in October against Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night: Hall vs. Silva where he lost via fourth-round technical knockout.

The 45-year-old Silva has the longest title run in UFC history with 14 successful title defenses and holds a mixed martial arts record of 34-11. —MGP, GMA News
