Geje Eustaquio edges Song Min-jong at ONE: Inside the Matrix III

Former ONE flyweight world champion Geje Eustaquio has scored his second straight victory following a unanimous decision nod over Song Min-jong in the co-main event of ONE: Inside the Matrix III this Friday evening at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Eustaquio, 31, utilized his patented wushu strikes and kept the South Korean in check with kicks and right straight. Song switched stances in the opening salvo but was unable to land a telling blow at the Filipino.

Song was more aggressive and tried to close the gap in round two but Eustaquio had something for him each time he steps forward. The former champ found his rhythm that stanza and showcased a striking clinic as he made the South Korean pay for the strikes he missed.

Song went for a standing arm triangle in the opening seconds of the final round but was unable to make Eustaquio tap. They traded punches in the middle cage and tried to submit each other each time they visit the mat.

All three judges saw the fight for Eustaquio, improving his record to 14-8 while Song dropped to 11-8. – RC, GMA News
