Fil-Am MMA fighter John Dodson loses at UFC 252
Filipino-American mixed martial arts fighter John Dodson fell short in his latest outing following a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Merab Dvalishvili on the undercard of UFC 252 this Sunday, at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Both fighters felt each other out in the opening round. Dodson's quick footwork allowed him to sneak in a few left straights to the body. Dvalishvili went to scramble midway through the first, pinning Dodson to the cage throwing knees to the thighs of the Filipino.
Dodson was calculated with his strikes and was waiting to land a big counter in round two. Dvalishvili went to work as he attempted several takedowns but to no avail.
Dvalishvili was relentless with his pressure in the third and final round. Dodson landed a few punches and kicks, but it was Dvalishvili who landed the harder shots and dictated the tempo until the final bell.
All three judges saw the fight in favor of Dvalishvili after three rounds as he bagged his fifth consecutive win in the UFC. He improved his record to 12-4 while Dodson fell to 21-12 after going 2-4 in his last six fights. — LA, GMA News
