Karateka James De Los Santos eyes no. 1 in world rankings after winning 3rd gold medal amid quarantine


Filipino karateka James De Los Santos is on a roll amid the community quarantine.

He won another gold medal on Tuesday in the Balkan Open E-Tournament, his third victory in virtual kata tournaments.

De Los Santos defeated Slovenia, Morocco, and Spain en route to his triumph over South Africa in the finals.

"This tournament also adds points to the virtual kata world rankings. I’m doing my best to go after the number 1 spot," he said in a Facebook post.

The 2017 Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist previously won gold medals in the Korokotta Cup 2020 E-tournament and Palestine International Karate Cup.

He also bagged a silver in the SportData e-Tournament World Series.
