Flash Elorde's widow Laura passes away at 92
Laura Elorde, widow of the late Hall of Famer Gabriel "Flash" Elorde has passed away this Sunday morning. She was 92 years old.
The news was confirmed to GMA News Online by one of her children, Johnny, who narrated that the Philippine boxing matriarch was taken to Perpetual Help Medical Center ICU in Las Pinas three weeks ago due to low oxygen.
Elorde was tested twice for COVID-19 and both results came up negative, her grandson Juan Miguel told GMA News Online. She was discharged on Saturday, before she died of natural causes at the Elorde compound in Sucat, Paranaque.
Laura and Gabriel Elorde tied the knot in 1954. Laura was the supportive wife behind "Flash" who was inducted in the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993.
They were blessed with seven children: Maria Luisa (deceased), Gabriel Jr. (Bebot) Johnny, Teresa, Marty, Rita, and Maria Laurita (Cucuy).
Her grandsons Juan Miguel, Juan Martin, and JK are all professional boxers while Nico Elorde is a professional basketball player in the PBA. — LA, GMA News
