NCAA Season 95 suspended indefinitely amid COVID-19 scare
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has decided to suspend all Season 95 sporting events until further notice amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the Philippines.
Management committee chairman Peter Cayco made the decision in compliance with the Department of Health and the Department of Education.
"Due to the declaration of the Department of Health of Red Alert Sub-Level 1, and the guidance issued by the Department of Education that concerns gatherings or out-of-school activities, all NCAA activities are hereby suspended until further notice," he said in a statement.
He said the league wants to ensure the safety and welfare of the students, athletes, fans and officials first amid the ongoing threat of the COVID-19.
He added the Policy Board is set to meet soon to discuss whether to postpone the games indefinitely or cancel all activities instead.
