Filipina tennis player Alex Eala advances to Australian Open Juniors doubles finals

Filipina tennis player Alex Eala advanced to the women's doubles finals of the Australian Open Juniors on Thursday.

Eala, together with Indonesian partner Priska Madelyn Nugroho, won in three sets against Linda Fruhvirtova of Czech Republic and Kamilla Bartone of Latvia in the semifinals.

Eala and Nugroho engineered a come from behind win, 1-6, 7-5, 10-8, to take down the two European girls in the major tournament.

The pair will face Matilda Mutavdzic of the United Kingdom and Ziva Falkner of Slovenia in the final on Friday.

In women's singles, Eala advanced to the Round of 16 but her run ended with a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Hong Yi Cody Wong of Hong Kong. —MGP, GMA News
