Sibol makes history, claims first gold medal in SEA Games eSports

The enemy has been slain as the Philippine national eSports team Sibol emerged victorious against Indonesia to capture the first gold medal of the eSports tournament in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team, composed of Kenneth "Kenji" Villa, Jeniel "Haze" Bata-anon, Allan "Lusty" Castromayor, Carlito "Ribo" Ribo, Kyle "Pheww" Arcangel, and Jason "Jay" Torculas defeated Indonesia, 3 games against two, to ace the gold medal.

Sibol drew first blood in the best of five series, but the Indonesians refused to lose, taking the next two games. With their backs against the wall, Sibol was unstoppable late in the fourth game to extend their bid for the gold. The Philippines went all out in Game 5 for the victory.

The Philippines advanced to the gold medal match after defeating Malaysia in the lower bracket finals, two games to none. Malaysia took the bronze.
