William Morrison smashes shot put record to clinch gold

William Morrison III smashed the men's shot put record to bag the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games on Sunday at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

Morrison registered 18.38m on his third throw, eclipsing the 17.74m set by Thailand's Chatchawal Polyiam in 2011.

The throw also blew out the competition as Malaysia's Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli could only hit 17.03 for the silver. Thailand's Promrob Juntima secured the bronze with 16.40m.
