PHL fencing team leads Singapore fencers in dancing to 'Manila' after SEA Games win

They may be opponents, but the fencing teams from the Philippines and Singapore proved they are friends off the fencing strip at the Southeast Asia Games 2019.

On Saturday after the Philippine team got the gold in the women's epee and the bronze in the men's foil, Philippine head coach Amatov Canlas showed the Singaporean men's foil team—who bagged the gold—how to dance to "Manila", the song popularized by the Hotdog band.

The song was played as Filipino athletes entered the Philippine Arena during the opening ceremony of SEA Games 2019. Even President Rodrigo Duterte was seen dancing to the catchy tune that time.

And so, following Duterte's dance steps—the hand wave, yeah!—and the elbow move of Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, Canlas led the dancing as fans cheered at the World Trade Center.

Hey, the Singaporeans got the groove well! Watch the video below taken by GMA News' Tex Jimenez.

The Philippine fencing team was also in a dancing mood on Thursday after Jylyn Nicanor won the first gold medal for the team in the 2019 SEA Games.
