Filipino fencers strike gold in women's team epee

The Philippine fencing team nailed the gold medal in the women's team epee at the Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

Harlene Raguin, Hanniel Abella, and Anna Gabrielle Estimada beat the Singaporean team in the final, 45-38.

In the men's team foil, Shawn Felipe, Nathaniel Perez, Michael Nicanor, Jaime Viceo V lost 45-40 to Thailand in the semifinal to cop the bronze.

Singapore got the gold in the men's foil event.

But all's well that ends well. After the awarding on Saturday, Philippine head coach Amatov Canlas showed the Singaporean men's foil team how to dance to "Manila", the song popularized by the Hotdog band.
