PHL duo wins gold in modern pentathlon

The duo of Samuel German and Princess Arbilon pocketed the gold medal in modern pentathlon at the Southeast Asian Games at the Subic Bay Boardwalk Thursday.

German and Arbilon topped the mixed beach laser relay category in the sport, which is seeing action in the biennial meet for the first time.

Earlier, German took home silver in the men's beach laser individual category.

Modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport comprised of five different sports such as fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping and a final combined event of pistol shooting and cross country running.
