IN PHOTOS: Efren 'Bata' Reyes dominates as PHL opens SEA Games billiards campaign

Even at 65, Efren 'Bata' Reyes proves that he is still one of the best players in the sport.

The billiards legend dispatched Thailand's Thongchai Punyawee, 100-37, to barge into the semifinals of the 1-cushion carom event at the Southeast Asian Games on Wednesday at the Manila Hotel.

The country's billiards stars also advanced to the next round of their respective competitions.

Two-time SEA Games gold medalist Chezka Centeno beat Thailand's Waratthanun Sukrittanes, 7-3, in the quarterfinals of the women's 10-ball pool singles.

World pool champion Rubilen Amit also took care of business in the quarters, dispatching Vang Bui Xuan of Vietnam 7-1.

In snooker, meanwhile, Alvin Barbero and Jefrey Roda marched to the men's double semis with a 3-0 win over Thailand's Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon and Passakorn Suwannawat.

In men's 9-ball pool double, both pairs of Jeffrey Ignacio-Warren Kiamco and Carlo Biado-Johann Chua lost their semifinal matches.

Ignacio and Warren were narrowly edged by Myanmar's Aung Moe Thu and Phone Myint Kyaw, 9-8, while Biado and Chua were dominated 9-3 by Singapore's Toh Lian Han  and Aloysius Yapp. —Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
