Kristel Macrohon bags gold in weightlifting

Filipina weightlifter Kristel Macrohon captured her first Southeast Asian Games gold medal after ruling the women's 71kg category at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium Wednesday.

This is the Philippines' second gold medal in the weightlifting competition after Olympian Hidilyn Diaz placed first in the 55kg category on Monday.

Macrohon reaped gold after lifting 93kg in snatch and 123kg in clean and jerk for a total lift of 216kg.

Vietnam's Nguyen Thi Van placed second after a 214kg output, while Indonesia's Tsabitha Ramadani settled for bronze after garnering 203kg.
