PHL spikers off to contrasting openers in beach volleyball

The men's and women's teams of Philippine beach volleyball were on opposite sides of the spectrum after their matches in the Southeast Asian Games, Friday at the Subic Tennis Center.

The two men's teams went to a great start after winning against Timor Leste.

Philippine Team 1 with James Buytrago and Jaron Requinton swept Timor Leste, 21-16, 21-13.

For Philippine Team 2 with Jude Garcia and Edmar Bonono, they won in straight sets, 21-7, 21-16.

Meanwhile in the women's division, the tandem of Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons fell short against Indonesia, 18-21, 21-15, 13-15.

The second Philippine women's beach volleyball pair of Dzi Gervacio and Dij Rodriguez was swept by Indonesia, 14-21, 16-21.
