Malaysia's Julian Yee is the skater to beat in the men's figure skating this Southeast Asian Games.

The 2017 gold medalist and Olympian opened his short program with a triple axel, claiming the top spot with a total score of 63.35 points.

Meanwhile, 2017 silver medalist Chloe Ing of Singapore set the bar high as the first to skate in the ladies' short program.

With a total score of 50.67, she is currently on second place behind Philippines' Alisson Perticheto.
