30TH SEA GAMES

Pinoys can watch games featuring PHL teams for free except in three sports

There will be no entrance free for games featuring Philippine teams in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, except in basketball, volleyball and football, Speaker Alan Cayetano said Friday.

“All the Games are free, except for basketball, volleyball and football when the Philippine team is playing,” Cayetano, who also serves as the head of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee, said.

“But do not go straight to the venues yet. We will announce kung saan puwede kunin ang tickets,” he added.

The 30th SEA Games, which the Philippines is hosting, will be held from November 30 to December 11, 2019.

Likewise, Cayetano said a few thousand tickets will also be given to local government units hosting the SEA Games competitions, on top of the 10,000 tickets for the closing ceremony in New Clark City that will also be given for free.

As for those who already purchased tickets, Cayetano assured the public that the proceeds were for a good cause.

“Contribution na nila iyon, kasi sinubsidize ng bayad nila ‘yung ticket cost ng mga hindi makabili ng ticket,” he said.

The Philippines will be competing in this year's biennial meet coming off its worst finish in SEA Games history in 2017, winning only 21 golds. —Llanesca T. Panti/KBK, GMA News
