Two esports orgs tie up to scout and form a team for the world's biggest DOTA2 league

Two big names in the esports industry have joined forces to scout and form a team from the Philippines and Southeast Asia that will compete in the world's biggest DOTA2 tournament.

Esports organizations LGD Gaming and Esportsplay Gaming on Tuesday inked a deal at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City, to formalize their partnership and launched LGD International.

LGD International will scout, train, and teach their recruited players from the country and the region to compete in The International, DOTA2's biggest tourney.

Esportsplay Gaming COO John Tse said the partnership is something he looked forward to. "This is the beginning of something special," he said.

Esportsplay Gaming CEO Ivan Cuevas, meanwhile, said the partnership came at the right time, especially since esports will be played in the 30th Southeast Asian Games, which is held in the country.

Plans in the pipeline include Esportsplay Gaming building LGD International's training headquarters in Pampanga and a gaming arena in Cebu.

Present in the signing were Esportsplay Gamings' Cuevas and Tse, and LGD CEO Pan "Ruru" Jie, who is also a world-renowned DOTA player.

"This is just the first step towards their mission to drive esports forward by creating a talent training program and developing an ecosystem," the two organizations said in a statement. — BAP, GMA News
