New Clark City amenities, services, food delight SEA Games athletes

In contrast with the foul-ups experienced the past few days by Southeast Asian Games sports delegates, foreign athletes were enjoying the services and facilities at the Athletes' Village in New Clark City.

Through other venues were still unfinished, the Athletics Stadium and Aquatic Center in Tarlac, the country's newest sports facility, was ready for use.

According to Mav Gonzales' Tuesday report on 24 Oras, the kitchen in the Athletes' Village was open 24 hours to serve players unlimited amounts of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

A food safety officer was also always present to check if the food being served was clean and fresh.

"'Yong uri ng pagkain namin dito is international. Mayroong Chinese, Thai, Filipino. Of course, we are highlighting our own cuisine which is Kapampangan," said Athletes Village Chef Sau del Rosario.

The Village had a total of 723 rooms, a swimming pool, a basketball court, a gym, conference rooms, and an athletes' lounge. The main dining hall could also fit a thousand people.

Several foreign athletes were well pleased with the amenities.

"So far it's good. We like the food and everybody here is nice," said Nopavich Savetmalanond, a member of the Thailand water polo team.

"It's very near to our competition venue and they always have buses which is good," chimed Gina Koh, a member of the Singapore water polo team.
