Demetrious Johnson submits Yuya Wakamatsu in Japan
TOKYO — Former UFC flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson has advanced to the semi-finals of the ONE flyweight world grand prix following a second-round submission victory over Yuya Wakamatsu on the undercard of ONE: A New Era at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on Sunday.
Johnson was quick on his feet in the opening round as he moved around and tried to score a takedown. Wakamatsu remained calm and collected all throughout and landed shots of his own.
But the American immediately went to score a takedown the following round. It was all Johnson since the fight got to the mat, as he secured a guillotine choke that forced Wakamatsu to tap at the 2:40 mark of round two
The win improved Johnson's record to 28-3 while Wakamatsu dropped to 10-4. — BM, GMA News
