How Pinoy MMA fighter Edward Kelly put foe to sleep in just 21 seconds

Hard-hitting Filipino featherweight Edward Kelly of Baguio City's Team Lakay has starred in yet another viral knockout video following his performance on Friday in the preliminary of 'ONE: Global Superheroes' at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The victim this time around is Meas Meul of Cambodia, who Kelly got rid of in 21 seconds to set the record for the fastest knockout victory in ONE Championship's stacked featherweight division.

"I felt emotional because I know that Cambodians are like Filipinos, they're used to hard work. When he fell and I saw his back, I thought he was going to roll and I would need to catch him on the ground with punches," said Kelly.

Kelly's first reaction was also a rare display of genuine sportsmanship as he opted not to celebrate when his foe fell face first to the canvas, instead he immediately approached Meul in hopes he was not badly injured.

"I felt guilty when I realized he's unconscious, I wanted to say sorry but officials stormed the cage so I just went to his corner to say sorry. I just told him what happened is part of being a fighter."

The knockout video has since went viral minutes after it happened and has been picked up by huge mixed martial arts news sites around the world. —ALG, GMA News
