PWR Bakbakan Sa Bayanihan: Full card preview
Vlad Sinnsyk vs. SANDATA
Both Vlad Sinnsyk and SANDATA are floating in the ether after Renaissance: Vlad Sinnsyk is at a loss after his partner Mike Madrigal blamed him for their loss against the Punk Dolls while SANDATA's fresh from a loss against Billy Suede for a shot at the PWR Championship.
With this singles match, both men stand a chance at rallying themselves and perhaps rebuild their path towards singles gold.
Punk Dolls vs. Kakaibros
It would be surprising if this face-off between the Punk Dolls and KakaiBros doesn't end up in some sort of injury.
For weeks, Robynn has had to deal with unwanted attention from Mh4rkie and Kh3ndrick on social media. From photo-shopped pictures to inane comments, their pursuit has driven Punk Rock Maiden to the point where she probably wouldn't mind driving both men through an actual door.
Given their seniority in the ring and their motivations, the Punk Dolls seem to be the obvious favorites. However, the unique dynamic of the KakaiBros — who have only been in tag action a handful of times — may surprise the energetic duo.
FIGHTERS 4 HIRE vs. John Sebastian & Peter Versoza
This face-off between Fighters 4 Hire against Peter Versoza and John Sebastian was the only logical way this spontaneous feud can be resolved.
Rosales is severely motivated to beat Sebastian and Versoza, whom he was arguably on the verge of beating before the former PWR champion interrupted and extended his fury to both Rosales and his partner Joey Bax.
Apart from perhaps having more motivation than the two to win this match, Fighters 4 Hire's flawless teamwork will also test the new partnership between Sebastian and Versoza.
While the two share frustrations over being supposedly overlooked or screwed out of opportunities by General Manager Mr. Sy, Versoza and Sebastian have never truly paired up.
With their legendary tempers and egos, the two will need to make a herculean effort and compromise to make this work.
ALL OUT WAR: The Apocalypse vs. Trian Dela Torre
In a dire case of biting off more than one can chew, the Miniature Boy Trian dela Torre will face off against The Apocalypse in the most brutal match PWR can offer: All Out War.
Last seen in Resbak, what Dela Torre nicknamed "Small Out War" ends in pinfall or submission but has in the past featured light tubes, Orocan, boards, and an excess of blood due to its no-holds-barred nature.
The Apocalypse, a frequent face in this brutal match, will find this to his advantage as he looks forward to unleashing his frustrations against the man who continually outsmarted him. Dela Torre, however, has a long night ahead of him.
Consequentially, the Inch for Inch Best in the World celebrated his birthday-despedida-lamay days before this match on July 21 where patrons were allowed to drop off abuloys and donations of weapons.
MATIRA MATIBAY: Ralph Imabayashi vs. 'The Senyorito' Jake De Leon
1) The only way to win is by 10 COUNT or REFEREE STOPPAGE.
2) No Pinfalls. No Submissions.
3) Count Out and Disqualification rules apply.
The last man standing in the ring after this may finally lay claim to being the best wrestler in PWR, though it's doubtful that such a fiery rivalry would be put to rest without a lot of blood, sweat, tears.
And while banned from ringside, Imabayashi's partner Rederick Mahaba shouldn't be discounted as he found ways to interfere with Renaissance's triple threat.
PWR TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: The YOLO Twins (c) vs. The Network
By the grace of Alexander Belmonte III's quick thinking — and the YOLO Twins' vile attacks on The Network — a perceived implosion within the green trio was averted by setting James "Idol" Martinez' sights on the Tag Team titles.
AB III and Martinez showed great chemistry in the ring with the Ollores' in their faction fight, though with their titles on the line and without their third man, the YOLO Twins would certainly skip the hilarity and go straight for the Network's throats.
It's all up to Martinez now to back AB III; the head of the pyramid has escaped scuffles in the past with his charm, but it's now high time for him to show off his hidden skills.
PHX CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Originally a match between the champion Chino Guinto and Ken Warren, Guinto's announcement of a torn ACL and MCL lead to the Golden Boy being stripped of the PHX title.
The injury ensures that a new champion will be crowned and while Warren's sure to hold on to his contendership, this leaves him without an opponent for the championship.
There's quite a number of women and men on the roster with nothing to do on Sunday, and the uncertainty of who will compete with the Social Media Minister for the promotion's secondary singles belt makes this bout one of the must-see matches of the entire card.
PWR CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Chris Panzer (c) vs. 'Beautiful' Billy Suede
Try as he might, Mr. Sy failed to keep the #1 Contender's Match between Suede and SANDATA clean, leading to the Beautiful One picking up the right to face Panzer for his title this Sunday.
The duo actually faced off for the title in PWR's UnFather's Day show in Eastwood, a week prior to the Contendership Match in Renaissance. Suede even won the belt with assistance from the ropes, but quick thinking from Mr. Sy reversed the decision and allowed Panzer to eventually retain the title.
More than ever, Suede will attempt to distill his decade-long experience and unconventional tactics to finally win the big belt and it's up to Panzer if he'll successfully defend the belt he's suffered a year for to just get gain a shot at.
