Elusive Olympic gold: Only two silver medals, seven bronzes for PHL since 1924
The Philippines has been joining the Olympic Games since 1924 but has only received nine Olympic medals so far — two silvers, seven bronzes, and no gold.

The Philippines' first Olympian is David Nepomuceno, the country's only delegate to the Olympic Games in Paris, France in 1924. He competed in the 100-meter and 200-meter athletics events.
From that time on, eight Filipinos earned nine Olympic medals, with one athlete — swimmer Teofilo Yldefonso — winning two bronze medals in two consecutive Olympic Games: 1928 and 1932.
How will the Philippines fare in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from August 5 to 21? Let's wait and hope for the best! — Marisse Panaligan and Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/VVP, GMA News
