V-League: Alyssa Valdez named MVP, best outside hitter

Volleyball superstar Alyssa Valdez added another Most Valuable Player trophy to her collection after getting hailed as the MVP of the Shakey's V-League Open Conference on Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

The explosive PLDT Home Ultera spiker also bagged the Best Outside Hitter award, along with Philippine Army's Rachel Anne Daquis.

Valdez' teammate Jaja Santiago, meanwhile, took home the Best Middle Blocker award, together with Cagayan Valley's Ria Meneses.

Lady Trooper Jovelyn Gonzaga won the Best Opposite Spiker award, edging out fellow southpaw Aiza Maizo-Pontillas.

Completing the list of awardees are PLDT's Rubie De Leon for the Best Setter and Meralco's Jen Reyes for the Best Libero.

The Conference marked the first time the V-League adopted the international standards for individual awards. - RAF, GMA News
