Asian Games 2023: Bolden, Eggesvik goals power Filipinas past Myanmar to book QF slot

Goals from Sarina Bolden and Sara Eggesvik handed the Philippine women's football team a ticket to the 19th Asian Games women's football quarterfinals after a 3-0 win against Myanmar on Thursday in the group stage matches in China.

Bolden made the first goal at the 19th minute with a conversion from a penalty kick which eventually gave the Filipinas a 1-0 lead at halftime.

At the 60' mark, Eggesvik made the second goal after a header pass from Bolden to double the Philippines' lead.

Just moments after, a pass from Meryll Serrano handed Eggesvik the Filipinas' third goal which clinched the win for the history-making women's football team.

The Filipinas finished the group round at the second spot of Group E, and was included in the three best second-placed teams which allowed them to advance to the knockouts.

Quarterfinal matches will be played on Saturday as the Filipinas will go against Japan.

Prior to this, the Filipinas won over Hong Kong, 3-1, before falling to South Korea, 5-1.
