World Cup-bound Filipinas rise to no. 46 in FIFA rankings
The Philippine national women's football team rose to no. 46 in the latest FIFA rankings before the history-making Filipinas plunge into the 2023 World Cup action next month in New Zealand.
The Filipinas moved up three places from no. 49, a previous high that they achieved in March 2023.
They now have overtaken Myanmar (no. 50) to emerge as the fourth-ranked team in the ASEAN region behind no. 10 Australia, no. 32 Vietnam, and no. 44 Thailand.
The team is coming off a tough campaign in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia last month, where the Filipinas finished with a 0-1-3 win-draw-loss record and failed to make it past the group stage.
The Philippines won the bronze medal in the previous edition of the biennial meet.
