Filipinas rise to their highest-ever FIFA ranking at no. 49
Another milestone has been achieved by the Philippine women's football team as the Filipinas rose to no. 49 in the latest FIFA rankings — the highest ever for the team in history.
Prior to the jump, the Filipinas stayed at no. 53, which they achieved in December 2022.
"It is a historic achievement that underlines the importance of collaboration between the PFF, team management and coaching staff, and the dedication, discipline and sacrifice of the players," the Philippines Football Federation said in a statement.
"Indeed, the rise of the Filipinas shows that belief, professionalism, structure, organization and technical knowledge and commitment of players can lead us into the right direction."
Currently, the squad is preparing for the Round 1 of the of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 Asian Qualification from April 3 to 11, where it will face Hong Kong, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
The Filipinas are also gearing up for the prestigious 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in July 2023.
