Philippine women's football team grouped with powerhouse Australia in AFC Asian Cup

The Philippine women's national football team will play powerhouse Australia in the group stage of the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup set to be hosted by India.
In the draw ceremony held Thursday, the Philippines was drawn in Group B with the FIFA world no. 11, along with Southeast Asian rivals Thailand and Indonesia.
Group A is composed of host India, China, Chinese Taipei, and Iran while defending champion Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Myanmar are in Group C.
The Filipina booters earned the rights to play in the Asian Cup after sweeping the qualifiers last month in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where they ousted both Hong Kong and Nepal.
