Chieffy Caligdong retires from Azkals
Former Azkals captain Emelio "Chieffy" Caligdong has officially retired from the Philippine national football team.
Caligdong, who scored many unforgettable goals for the Azkals in international competitions, posted a statement in his Facebook account to express his gratitude to the team, the management, and the fans.
"Even though I will not be playing in the team anymore, my heart, my prayers, and support are always with the team," the statement read.
Caligdong thanked the team for the memories and encouraged them to support the development of football in the country.
"To the present players, future and the next generation of Azkals may you play with all your hear, and wear the flag with honor and pride!" he said.
Filipino football fans showered him with love on twitter following his announcement, thanking him for his contributions in the national team.
