2013 Homeless World Cup: PHL team finishes fifth in Ministry of Labour Cup

The Philippines defeated India in a penalty shootout on Sunday, 2-2 (1-0), to salvage fifth place in The Ministry of Labour Cup in the 2013 Homeless World Cup in Poznan, Poland.
With the victory, the Filipinos ended their campaign 28th overall.
The team faced tough competition in the qualifying stage, losing their match against Romania (11-2) on opening day, before suffering back-to-back defeats against 2003 winner Austria (5-1) and Slovenia (8-3). The team finished the qualifiers without a win, as they were defeated by Belgium (9-4) and Boznia and Herzegovina (10-4).
The Philippines finally broke into the win column during the secondary stage, against Korea (4-2). They also defeated Canada, 3-1, before falling to Germany via penalty shootout on Thursday.
On Friday, the Philippines dropped their game against Northern Ireland, 3-2, before winning against Finland via penalty shootout the same day.
In the quarterfinals for The Ministry of Labour Cup, the Philippines lost to a tough Croatian team, 8-3. They then defeated Greece, 6-5, in the semifinals.
