Kings' Caguioa is PBA Player of the Week
MANILA, Philippines - For displaying his deadly form, Mark Caguioa of Barangay Ginebra earned the nod of the PBA Press Corps to be its Player of the week for the period May 19 to 25. The association said on Monday that Caguiao exploded for 39 points, leading the Kings to a 97-92 triumph over Air 21 last Saturday in a Smart PBA Fiesta Conference road game at the Zamboanga City Coliseum. Junthy Valenzuela and Billy Mamaril helped in that victory but Caguiao's personal conference-high helped proved the big difference in beating the Express. "Even when we were losing, he's been carrying the load for us and that game just stressed that fact," coach Jong Uichico said. That victory helped the Kings post their first back-to-back triumphs, the first of which was a 105-70 domination over Welcoat two Sunday's ago. Those victories improved Ginebra's win-loss record to 3-7. That 39-point performance put Caguioa's scoring average at 25.7 ppg, ahead of Air21 import Steven Thomas' 24.6. - GMANews.TV
