POC chief Bambol Tolentino to be named 2024 PSA Executive of the Year

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino is set to be hailed as the Executive of the Year in the upcoming Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards Night on January 27.

With Tolentino at the helm, the country achieved its best showing yet in 100 years of participation in the Olympics after gymnast Carlos Yulo bagged two gold medals, while boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas copped bronze medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Tolentino, who was recently reelected as the POC president, will bag the plum for the third time in PSA's history, after capturing the same award back in 2021 and 2022.

Yulo leads the roster of awardees as the Athlete of the Year while the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines will be hailed as the NSA of the Year for steering Yulo to top as well as fielding three other gymnasts in Aleah Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo, and Levi Ruivivar to the Paris Games.

June Mar Fajardo, Kevin Quiambao, and Jia de Guzman, meanwhile, will be given special citations for making their marks in their respective sport last year.
