Hidilyn Diaz reacts to Carlos Yulo's Olympic gold medal win in Paris
From one gold medalist to another.
Hidilyn Diaz, who delivered the country's first-ever Olympic gold medal three years ago in Tokyo, shared a short yet meaningful reaction just moments after Carlos Yulo did the same in the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics.
The 24-year-old Filipino gymnast won a gold medal in the floor exercise finals of the men's artistic gymnastics on Saturday night at the Bercy Arena and Diaz, just like every Filipino, became ecstatic.
In an Instagram story, Diaz tagged Yulo and said: 'Yehey! May Olympic Gold na tayo'
In a separate post hours later, Diaz wrote a message to the newly-minted gold medalist.
"Proud ako sa iyo. I-enjoy mo ang bunga ng pinagpaguran mo. At lagi mong ibabalik - sa Diyos at bayan, dahil lahat ng tagumpay natin ay hindi pansarili. Salamat sa lahat ng maganda at mabuting ginagawa at gagawin mo pa para sa Diyos at bayan," she wrote on her post.
Both Diaz and Yulo bannered the country in multiple international events, one of which was the previous Tokyo Games where Diaz shattered records to became the champion in the women's 55kg division.
That same competition saw Yulo struggle in some of his events, including in his signature floor exercise routine.
Then just making his Summer Games debut, Yulo tallied just 13.566 to miss the finals altogether.
This time, though, the homegrown talent made sure the gold medal won't slip away.
