Fencer Maxine Esteban joins Cote d'Ivoire in Paris Olympics opening ceremony

Fencer Maxine Esteban joined the delegation of Cote d'Ivoire in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Esteban posted her photo during the opening ceremony on Saturday.

"We are ready," she wrote in the caption of her post.

Esteban, who will compete in the women's foil event, formerly represented the Philippines.

She will start her campaign in the Table of 32 on Sunday as she earned a first round bye.

Philippine representative Sam Catantan , meanwhile, will face Brazil's Mariana Pistoia in the Table of 64.
