Mikee Cojuangco elected member of Int'l Olympic Committee executive board

Philippines’ representative to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mikaela “Mikee” Cojuangco-Jaworski was elected to the IOC Executive Board on Friday.
Cojuangco-Jaworski, along with fellow equestrian Gerardo Wethein of Argentina, was elected to the board during the 136th IOC session on Friday, which was held virtually for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cojuangco-Jaworski and Wethein will both serve a five-year term after replacing Sergey Bubka and Ser Miang Ng.
The IOC Executive Board is the highest decision-making body of the world Olympic body in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is made up of a president, four vice presidents and 10 members. Germany’s Thomas Bach is the current president.
The 46-year-old Cojuangco-Jaworski, a 2002 Asian Games and 2005 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, has served as the country’s IOC representative since 2013.
She is also the current chairman of the Commission for Olympic Education.
Cojuangco-Jaworski, the daughter of former Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr., has also ruled the 2011 International Equestrian Federation World Dressage Challenge. —LBG, GMA News
