UAAP suspends all Season 82 events until March 14 due to COVID-19 scare
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) suspended on Tuesday all of its sporting events until March 14 due to the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Season 82 president Emmanuel Fernandez and UAAP executive director Rebo Saguisag made the announcement after President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of public health emergency and ordered the suspension of classes amid the increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.

“The President of the Philippines has declared a State of Public Health Emergency and has ordered the suspension of classes in ALL levels in Metro Manila until March 14, 2020,” UAAP said in a statement.
“More importantly, the President stated that ‘students (are) to be confined in their homes and will continue to study…,’” it added.
Among the events that will be affected are volleyball, football, baseball, softball, athletics, and judo.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on Monday also decided to suspend all Season 95 events until further notice.
Duterte earlier said four new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country, bringing the total number to 24.—AOL, GMA News
