Filipino figure skater Michael Martinez on Friday slayed his performance during the short program of the men's single skating at the Gangneung Ice Arena in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Martinez finished his flawless performance to the tune of Emerald Tiger by Vanessa Mae with a total score of 55.56 -- 26.04 for technical elements and 29.52 for unfactored program components. He had zero deductions.

Martinez needs to enter the top 24 out of 30 competitors for him to qualify in the free skating round on Saturday.

The 21-year-old Olympian is currently ranked 11th in the ongoing competition.
