Roger Gracie to fight for light heavyweight title in Singapore
Roger Gracie of the renowned Gracie fighting family of Brazil is slated to vie for the inaugural ONE Championship light heavyweight title against Michal Paternak in the co-main event of ONE: Ascent to Power on May 6 at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.
The bout came in as a late replacement to Vitaly Bigdash vs. Aleksei Butorin after the defending middleweight champion Bigdash suffered an injury in training.
The 34-year-old Gracie, who holds a record of 7-2, is coming off a TKO victory against dangerous striker James Mcsweeey in his last fight at the Mall of Asia Arena in December of 2014.
Paternak, meanwhile, is unbeaten in his mixed martial arts career holding a record of 11-0. A well rounded fighter in his own right, Paternak has finished six of his opponents by either submission or knockout.
In the main event, Singapore's Angela Lee will make her first championship attempt when she battles Mei Yamaguchi of Japan for the inaugural ONE women's atomweight title. — APG, GMA News
