UAAP: Why Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez approached La Salle bench after Lady Eagles victory

Alyssa Valdez was a dominant force once more for Ateneo. KC Cruz

After Ateneo's demolition of La Salle in Game One of the UAAP women's volleyball finals, Lady Eagles' superstar Alyssa Valdez approached the La Salle bench.

Valdez wanted to check on the condition of Camille Cruz and Ara Galang, the injured stars of the Lady Spikers.

Galang suffered a knee injury in La Salle's semifinals victory over National University last Saturday, while Cruz was hurt on a suspected ACL injury on Wednesday.

After the game, Valdez explained why she walked over. She noted that even though they are on opposite sides, they are part of the same volleyball community.

"Sa volleyball community talaga we're very sad kasi quality players yung na-a-accident," Valdez said in her post-game address to reporters.

Valdez also expressed faith that both La Salle players can recover.

"The girls are very strong naman and very brave para bumalik," she said. —JST, GMA News
