Adamson U, FEU win 2007 volleyball collegiate titles
Adamson University defeated University of Santo Tomas, 25-22, 25-22, 7-25, 25-23, in the one-game finals to bag the 2007 Inter-Collegiate national volleyball championship crown late Saturday night at the Rizal Technological U gym, league organizers said Sunday. The Adamson Lady Falcons swept all its games, including the championship showdown, on its way to earning the title of this yearly event organized by Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF). Hannah Suarez, who won as the best server, denied the Tigresses a chance to bring the game to fifth set as she scored back-to-back kills to break the 23-all deadlock in the fourth set. Jaclyn So, the league's women's MVP, paced Adamson with 19 kills, two service points and a block, while UST was paced by Venus Bernal, the league's best attacker, with 18 kills and three blocks. UST suffered twin setbacks as their men's team bowed to Far Eastern University 18-25, 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-11, in the men's title showdown. Philippine Christian U-Manila defeated University of Cordillera, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-14, and Letran College bashed Saint Francis De Assisi College, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19, to settle for third in the women's and men's events, respectively. - GMANews.TV
