Carmelita Mateo, team manager of the UE Red Warriors, confirmed on Friday that David “Boysie” Zamar will no longer be their head coach, effective April 1, via a press release.

In the short statement, Mrs. Mateo wrote, “UE Management feels that the Warriors’ head coach must be one who will handle the team full-time, one without commitments to other teams.”

Zamar is also currently an assistant coach to the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA.

The statement added that UE will announce next week who Zamar’s replacement will be.

Zamar took over the position this past UAAP season, after serving an interim tern prior. Under his watch, the Red Warriors copped the FilOil Flying V Preseason crown in 2013, but were unable to translate that into UAAP success, finishing Season 76 with a 7-7 record, in a tie with the ADMU Blue Eagles, a win out of the last Final Four berth.

UE also happens to be the hosts for this upcoming season.  - AMD, GMA News
