Blue chips banner Seaoil All-Star weekend


Some of the best high school basketball players in the country will be showing off their wares over the weekend, as they participate in the 2014 Seaoil NBTC League National High School Championship and All Star game from March 6-9 at the Ynares Arena in Pasig.

"We're very excited to hold the annual national championship and of course yung pinakahihintay ng lahat na high school All Star game," said Seaoil NBTC national program director Eric Altamirano.

Thirty players were chosen to compete in the All Star game on Sunday. Seaoil Extreme team will see Ateneo-bound Thirdy Ravena and Arvin Tolentino, along with La Salle recruit Prince Rivero. Also in the team are Xavier's Issac Go, San Beda's Adven Diputado, DLSZ’s Renz Subido, and FEU's Richard Escoto. Rounding out the team are NU's Manuel Mosqueda, San Sebastian's Alfren Gayosa and Ryan Paul Costelo, UP's Diego Dario, SHS-Cebu's Arnie Padilla, Hua Siong College's Joshua Edjan and Assumption College of Davao's Allyn Bulanadi.

The Seaoil Mako Team will have three players each from NU and Hope Christian High School. Bullpups Hubert Cani, John Paul Cauilan and Lorenzo Battad will join Hope's John Apacible, Jobert Mercado and Arjan Dela Cruz. San Beda is also represented on the team with Javee Mocon and Ranbill Tongco. Chiang Kai Skek's Med Salim will also be around, along with Letran's Ivan VIllanueva, San Sebastian's Michael Calisaan, Xavier's Jarell Lim, Claret Zamboanga's Allen Delos Santos, Sacred Heart CDO's Grenn Gallardo, and West Negros University standout Keith Lowell Pido.

Twenty-four teams will participate in the National Championships. Chiang Kai Shek College, Hope Christian High School, National University's team A and B, Sacred Heart School of Cebu and University of San Carlos will join selections from Cavite, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan De Oro, Davao and Zamboanga in the first division.

College of San Benildo Rizal, Trinity University, Jubilee Christian Academy and Reedley International School will join selections from Olongapo, Pampanga, Dagupan, Baguio, Naga, Batangas and Mandaue and Bukidnon in the second division. Opening ceremonies will be on March 6 at 5:30 pm, with Chiang Kai Shek and Hope Christian facing off right after. - Renee Fopalan / AMD, GMA News
