UAAP: Defending champs DLSU Lady Archers show their worth, shoot down early challengers NU

What was billed as a possible preview of the UAAP Season 76 volleyball Finals instead turned out to be a one-sided rout.
The defending champions De La Salle University Lady Archers opened strong and then rode their wave of momentum to a three-set sweep of the National University Lady Bulldogs, 25-8 25-22 25-19, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
DLSU has begun the season on a three-game win streak, while NU's winning run was snapped at two.
Cydthealee Demecillo led the charge of the Archers, scoring a game-high 13 markers, three from blocks, four from service aces. Mika Reyes added 11, while team captain Abigail Marano managed 10, eight off spikes.
The Lady Archers also had a 21-15 edge in points off opponents' errors.
The Santiago sisters accounted for the bulk of NU's offense, combining for 22 points, 17 via spikes, plus three services aces. Their next best threat on offense was Aiko Urdas, who finished with five markers.
DLSU got a 21-13 advantage in both the excellent digs and excellent sets category. - AMD, GMA News
