UAAP: Schools to handle sale of cheerdance tickets in attempt to prioritize students

The UAAP has opted to change how tickets to its annual cheerdance competition are sold, giving the full allocation  to the eight member schools for them to sell, SM Tickets announced this past week on their Facebook page.

"As per instruction by UAAP host-Adamson [sic] earlier today during out technical meeting…100% of seating capacity will be pulled out by the UAAP to be given equally to the schools.

"This is to ensure that students will have the priority to buy tickets. In this regard, ticket selling scheduled on September 11 will no longer push through," the statement said.

This year's cheerdance competition is slated for September 15, Sunday at the MOA Arena.

SM will only sell standing-room-only passes on competition day, with a limit of one ticket per person.

Last year's selling process met criticism when SM sold their allocated tickets online and via their remote ticket-selling booths. As a result, supply quickly ran out.

Prior to SM's hosting, fans lined up at the now Smart Araneta Coliseum as early as 2:30am to be the first in line for the next day's ticket selling.

The UP Pep Squad placed first last year, claiming top marks for the eighth time, for a league-best 17 top-three finishes.  - AMD, GMA News
