POLL: Who will break their losing streak first, GlobalPort or Barako Bull?
Two PBA teams that made considerable offseason changes are now mired in extended slumps, as Barako Bull Energy Cola have now lost six in a row, while the GlobalPort Batang Pier have dropped their past seven assignments.
GlobalPort turned a lot of heads when they traded for Sol Mercado and Japeth Aguilar, adding to a line-up that already boasts of Willie Miller and Gary David. However, after a 2-1 start, the team has not won a game since and is now on its third import, resulting in a 2-8 record, worst in the PBA.
On the other hand, Barako Bull also made a host of changes, bringing in the likes of Jonas Villanueva, JC Intal, and Allein Maliksi. More importantly, the team tapped Rajko Toroman to be the squad's consultant/de facto head coach, and while their hot shooting powered them to a 3-1 record, it's been all downhill from there, as they've fallen to 3-7, for the second-worst card, above just GlobalPort.
Both sides failed to make the playoffs in the Philippine Cup, and had hoped that their influx of talent would allow them to break through this conference. So far though, that has not been the case.
Up next on the Batang Pier's plate are the Meralco Bolts, the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters, and the Alaska Aces, while BBE have the San Mig Coffee Mixers, the Petron Blaze Boosters and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters still on their schedule. The two sides will then play each other in their final regular season assignment.
Now the question remains, who will pick up their next win first? Will it be GlobalPort or will it be Barako Bull?
