FTW: Is Luigi Trillo Alaska's new ace-in-the-hole?

With the departure of Joel Banal from the Alaska Aces, the FTW Crew of Miakka Lim, Mico Halili, Jason Webb, and Magoo Marjon discussed the interim appointment of Luigi Trillo to the multi-titled franchise's head coach position "It's a huge break for a coach like coach Luigi to be given an awesome responsibility to coach a PBA team. I do not envy him to be honest. Ang hirap nun ha," said Mico. But with the trials come unique advantages that only Trillo has. "The nice thing about it is nandun na sya. Matagal na siya sa Alaska. Kilala na niya yung mga personnel dun," said Jason. But the most important ace Trillo holds is his relationship with management. Trillo's father, Joaqui Trillo, is the team's general manager. "His biggest advantage is that this is the first time na you have a coach and yung manager who are actually related. You know that you're gonna have the 100% full support of management," stressed Jason. "Or they cannot really mess up na kasi related na yung coach at yung manager. I'm just saying," Miakka countered. The long-standing relationship with the players makes Trillo a comfortable choice, but Magoo wonders whether or not this will automatically carry through in-game situations: "He has the rapport with the players. Yung tiwala sa kanya outside the court, nandun na yan dahil siyempre magkakasama na sila ng matagal. The biggest question mark will be the trust in in-game situations." The Aces went 3-11 and then 5-4 in the All-Filipino Cup and the Commissioner's Cup, respectively. Trillo is expected to bring back the Triangle Offense employed by the team's most famous mentor, Tim Cone, which was abandoned by Banal in the latest tourney, a move that resulted in a quarterfinals berth. - AMD, GMA News
