Fil-Swiss driver Marlon Stockinger still in top 6 in last pre-season test

After a successful testing in Barcelona, Filipino-Swiss driver Marlon Stockinger continued to post times in the top six in the last official pre-season testing for the Grand Prix 3. Stockinger and the rest of the Status Grand Prix drivers made a strong showing during the last leg of preparations in Silverstone, United Kingdom on April 11 and 12 (April 12 and 13, PHL time).   “We’ve been consistently in the top six in the pre-season tests, and I leave Silverstone happy that we’re competitive and will be right in the fight at the front when the season starts," said Stockinger.   The 21-year-old peaked at fifth place during the morning session of the first day. His quick lap was dampened as rain began to fall, but Stockinger was able to continue his business on the next day.   He rebounded as he set the sixth fastest time, just 0.358s off the best lap set by Carlin’s Antonio Felix da Costa, during the second morning session.   The GP3 sophomore was yet again delayed in the afternoon session due to a gearbox sensor failure. However, he picked up his pace as soon as he started and even finished with the seventh fastest time of the session.   "The small issue with the gearbox maybe cost us the chance to use new tires on the track during its fastest conditions this afternoon, but we were still up there. We go to the first race confident," he ended.   Stockinger will debut with Status GP when the 2012 season kicks off in Barcelona on May 13 (May 14, PHL time). – AMD, GMA News
